ever since i was little I loved The Abyss. I would also say LOTR trilogy are great movies. And a movie that I can watch all the time is Wedding Singer, loved the 80's theme..

I don't know that I can pick just one favorite, but some of the best I've seen are:
Donnie Darko
Fight Club
The Wizard of OZ
Raiders of the Lost Ark
La Vita e Bella
The Empire Strikes Back
Pulp Fiction
Sixteen Candles
Back to the Future
Lord of the Rings Trilogy
Labyrinth
Magnolia
American Beauty
American Graffiti
While You Were Sleeping
They're all over the board, really. Some are fun. Some are thought-provoking. A few are sad.

i really cant say because there are so many that i like. You see i work in a video store and get to watch the movies while im working and get them for half price. The most resent that came out was alpha dog. that was a good movie and quite accuret to what happend seein that it was based on a true story. The other was smokin aces. Man that movie was great for a good shoot it out flick. And if you do want a review on a movie that you havent seen yet just IM me and i will give you a review on it

That is a good question, especially since you've eliminated horror flicks. I would say Pulp Fiction.
But don't forget gems like:
A Bug's Life
Beetlejuice
Jurassic Park
Sin City
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Gone With the Wind

Pirates of the caribbean - especially the first one. It makes me want to laugh, cry, and everything in between. I can watch it all the time and I never get tired of it - it's my favorite movie ever.
The Lord of the Rings is also awesome - exhilarating and inspiring. totally cool.
The Phantom of the Opera is really good too - it is SO sad, it will probably make you cry, but if you want a sad movie, you should watch it.
Some other good ones are: The Incredibles, Finding Neverland, Monsters Inc., old musicals like My Fair Lady, the Sound of Music, the King and I, Batman Begins, .....
I hope you find something you like!
