Spring tides have higher high tides and lower low tides. Neap tides have lower high tides and higher low tides.

I've included a link for you.

The main reason for the regular changes in sea level we see at the sea side (the tides) is the gravitational pull of the sun and the moon.
When the sun and moon and the earth are in line, at the time of a full moon or a new moon, the gravitational pull is greater giving higher high tides and lower low tides, which we call spring tides. When the sun and moon form a right angle with the earth there is less pull giving the less extreme tides we call neap tides.
During the spring and autumn, when the sun is over the equator, the gravitational pull is at its highest giving us particularly high spring tides, and I think this is why we call them 'spring tides', but why we don't call them autumn tides I don't know.

I studied this already1 Spring Tide - a tide just after a new or full moon, where there is the greatest difference between high and low water. Therefore it is a high tide.

Neap tide- a tide just after the first or third quarters of the moon when there is at least difference between high and low water. this is the low tide.

Spring tides occur when solar and lunar tides reinforce. Neap tides occur when solar and lunar tides interfere with each other.
