No you shouldn't. Most hospitals will not allow you to if they know about it. Your bestfriend will NOT appreciate it if you do either.

A cold to you could turn into the RSV virus for her newborn and the baby could get seriously sick. If you care about your bestfriend you will put the interest of her child first. Otherwise she may not be your bestfriend for long. I would be very upset if my friend came to visit knowingly ill with the cold virus.

Phone your friend and explain you will see them both when you are healthy.

definite definatly wait. i be conscious of it sux, my chum had a sprint one whilst my daughter and fiance had undesirable colds and so I stayed away until eventually my family contributors became healthful returned. Being the only to nurse them returned to wellbeing I knew i could probable be donning the germs myself and the final ingredient a sparkling mom needs is for her newborn to get ill. those first few weeks are stress ful sufficient without extra problems. So i think of you need to watch for a whilst. purely make certain you supply her a telephone call or something to congradulate her and clarify why you at the instant are not comming as we communicate away. Im valuable she would be waiting to rejoice with you putting her toddlers wellbeing first.

I wouldn't. Not only could you pass it on to the infant, you could infect the Mum who's just getting over the whole stress of birth. And if she's still in hospital to other babies, patients and staff. Let her know that you'd love to visit but are thinking of her and the baby's health. I am sure she would appreciate the thought.
Send flowers or a card to let her know you're keeping in touch.

I when I had one of mine, I had a visitor who's child (who she brought along) had the mumps, and I was furious! Her excuse was "they have to catch it sometime" to which I replied that they can inoculate them now.

It probably wouldn't be the best thing to do. You can always visit later after you get over your cold; that way you won't have to worry about getting the baby sick.

It's not a good idea, babies have weakened immune systems. If it's ok with her, and you feel you must because they are just so irresistible, wear a mask from the hospital, they should give you one if you ask.

I would suggest not, since infants (obviously) have a low immune system, and its not good for such a little one to be exposed to someone else's cold, if it came from mom, it would be ok, but not an outsider, sorry!

i suppose if its ok with the perants but i did not let anyone that was sick close to my kids as my son ended up in hospital for 11 days because he got the flu its not easy for a small baby to fight bugs the same way we can so they normally end up very sick or in hospital

Mmmm...you should not as the newborn might contract it. If you must then you'll have to wear a face mask....try not to sneeze or pollute the air..lol, and definitely no cuddling...touching the baby. It may be awkward for you and your friend when you are seen wearing a mask.. :)
