Not familiar with a film by that title from 1952, but there was one from the early 90's that had a lot of the elements of film noir.

The plot revolves around the skeleton found in the desert outside of a small Texas boarder town. It is discovered to be the remains of the old sherrif who disappeared some 30 years earlier. With a trail that cold, can the current sherrif solve the mystery?

The acting was excellent and the cast was well chosen. The story was well scripted and it deserved a much larger budget. The movie is a "must see" for mystery fans. However, this movie was filmed in color, which most critic agree disqualifies it as being film noir.
