I think America is ready, but I just don't see anyone out there competent enough. I am a very well educated woman but still I think women get mess over so often that I don't know who could protect her from all of the ruthless crap that comes her way. Queen Elizabeth I was a great success but had a great prime-minister--and she was willing to let some heads roll. After all Henry the 8th was her father. But I don't know personally any women that can be so ruthless. I know that I can't. It would be nice if the world was willing to give peace a try but I don't think now is the time. I think Hillary can be pretty ruthless but she is in it more for the glory than having that much to contribute. Obama is too inexperienced. In another term maybe he will be ready. I think he is more than half white, but what difference does that make? I guess he is a mongrel like most Americans.

It is NOT a legitimate question. It is YOU that is the biased, not the voters. If a candidate is believed to be the most qualified by the voters, then their race, gender, or religion SHOULD make no difference. Just because YOU think that a black or a woman is the most qualified and vote for them--that does not mean that the MAJORITY of the voters will think that. If they DO NOT think that and your candidate is NOT elected---------does that mean that the voters were biased----or the wisest?

Very legitimate! I'm have to say no America is not ready. I am, but not the rest of America. Unless there is a candidate that is able to transcend their color/gender due do America cannot get over the fact that is person is non-white male. Or have the candidate be very convincing with his goals and platforms to most Americans.

You're right; it IS a shame this is still a legitimate question! The answer is; I honestly don't know what America is ready for. All I know is what I'm ready for. I have nothing against either Hillary or Obama but I'd still rather have Edwards for other reasons.

I think about it this way... America has had nothing but white males as president. Look how "far" we come. We're in a nice deep hole. I'm not saying that white males are to blame, but I AM saying that it's time we focused on who has the right ideas and the best plan rather than race, sex, and party. What it all boils down to is that we are ALL humans and we need to decide what it best for all of us, regardless of what we look like on the outside. Sex, Race, and Party don't make you smarter or better than the next guy. Integrity, compassion, and creativity do.

A woman? NO
Although over half of the population are women, so in a democracy it makes perfect sense, and the mess that men have made of government since government was conceived is even a better reason......
....America is not ready because Americans, are stupid ignorant sexist fools, who think women are inherently incompetent.
A Black? NO
There's no particular reason why, in a democracy, a White 80% majority should be ruled by a minority race, Black, president. Historically, in the world, its been the other way around, and it hasn't been a good thing.
However in the present day, the "Black" is part-white, ands there is every reason to believe he would rule with justice.
America is not ready because Americans, are stupid ignorant racist fools, who think racial minorities are inherently incompetent.

It sad that sex and race are still something that the general public considers when voting for a candidate. America is ready for the best person for the job and has been ready for awhile.

Why not? Do Americans think that America is more backward than nations, like Germany, Ireland, etc.?

It's a pity that we hail America's might, but so mentally backwards like those in the days of the Pilgrim Age. Hey, England has been ruled by Queens!!!! The most colonies England managed to control were during Queen Elizabeth I's days. That female even saved England from falling into the trickeries and dirt, employed by France, Spain and the Pope! LOL

Hillary is not electable! Baracka Hussein Obama is a fraud, closet Muslim, a pathological liar, and has said nothing thus far because he has nothing to say. If the Demoncrats want an honest, intelligent, and well qualified candidate, it is obviously John Edwards.
