Network, network, network. Get to know as many people as you can in the industry. Get some experience with some smaller labels and eventually you will be able to land some jobs with major labels as an A&R Rep (goes out and discovers bands for labels) or a talent agent (represents artists and tries to get them signed). It isn't something you just up and become, it takes a lot of time to do, especially since record labels have had to cut thousands of employees due to music piracy draining their expendable income. Good luck.
