I recently joined the United States Navy and I am leving for boot camp in about a month, my fiancee has been in the navy for a year and a half already and now he is about to complete his first 8-month deployment, he will be coming back home for about 10 days before i leave to boot camp, We really love each other and i really find him to be the right person for me, i know that he might have changed a lot after his deployment, but i am pretty sure that those changes wont matter for me, loving him the way i do..and well we are uncertain about getting married before i leave to boot camp or after, i would like to get station wher he is at, but i dont know what probabilities we have of doing that... although, i've seen a lot of comments that when military couples get married there is a big chance for a divorce.. i really love him and i know he loves me too.. and i really dont wanto to get divorced.. what should i do?

Wait until after. There's too much turmoil in your lives now. True love can wait, and then you can marry and turn your attention to starting a home and family without the threat of being deployed to different parts of the world with little advance notice. Good luck to you both.

First of all I want to wish you both a safe tour of duty.

I know you may not want to hear this but I would wait until both of you are home, don't rush into this, if you are meant to be together you will be. The military can change you, especially if you see combat. The fact that you two will be going through similar circumstances, might help you understand each other and deepen your love even more. Good luck my prayers are with you both.

I think you should wait.

Part of the excitement of getting married is your 'newlywed' stage. Do you really want to spend that period in boot camp?!?!?!

And his deployment has probably changed him, your basic training will possibly change you a little.....take time to get re-acquainted.

And I'm sure that if you'd get married, after you could get stationed together. I highly doubt you are the first couple who has had this situation.

Be careful. And good luck

Go for it girl. If you don't want a divorce, you just wont get one. People forget that one has to choose a divorce to get one.
Remember who he is and accept him for that not what he could be. Keep the home fires burning and the two of you will have a long and happy life. Do what the heart tell you in a case like this. Life is short happiness is all there is if you remember the bad is their to remind of weakness.
Live long and Be happy :)
