The answer is, a normal male will have 3 to 5 erections during sleep. Each erection will last about 30 minutes each, this is called nocternal penile tumesence. This has nothing to do with having to urinate, it just happens that the male is having an erection at that time when he awakens and since it is the morning he also has to pee.

You should try and urinate before going to bed. A lot of the time, morning erections are caused by the full bladder pressing up against something in your lower abdomen, that can cause an erection. I forget the name of the internal part that causes this. Either that, or you are going through puberty. In which case... wait a while and it should stop happening naturally.

Hi Fireman, Yes, in the morning is one of the times that a man is completely relax and will always wake up with an erection. I guess peeing is a bonus to make it hard on the man.. LOL LOL.. HEhehe..

Well, when you wake up suddenly your blood moves through your body at an increased rate causing the soft tissue to become erect. The increased blood volume constricts the urethra making it harder to pee. But if you are older and feel like you have to pee, but can't and it is not due to the normal morning salute then you may have an enlarged prostate. You may want to see your doctor about it. I hope that helps you.

You can't have an erection and urinate at the same time.

The erection is nature's way to keep you from peeing in bed before your full bladder wakes you.

When the bladder wakes you, you young fellows need a few moments for the erection to subside before you can drain the bladder. Or if you are lucky, the bladder really isn't that full, and you can let your bedmate help you work off the erection.

Well, I don't know the answer to your question, but I do know that if erections are to keep you from peeing in your sleep, then females would have to wear diapers to bed.

I think God made morning woodies as a gift to us females, if you really want my opinion!

Its normal. It is hard to pee becuase you are erect. The urine comes out with pressure and thats why it is difficult. Nothing to worry about.

that's normal dude. erection prevents you from peeing in bed. you have to wait for your erection to subside before you can pee. if you're tired of waiting, why not play with your erect penis first or ask somebody to play with it. cheers!

The nervous system is divided into sympathetic and parasympathetic systems. The sympathetic system is the "fight or flight" system and the parasympathetic is the "rest and digest" system. When you get an erection, your parasympathetic system is responsible for it. When you are sleeping at night your system is definitely resting and therefore your parasympathetic system is at its highest concentration.

Think "Point and Shoot" for erection/orgasms. Point is for Parasympathetic and Shoot is for Sympathetic system. So you can quickly get an erection while sleeping, but having an orgasm is rare because it takes some genuine alertness and excitement to reach the orgasm stage.
