Piglet is a boy. And, despite the pink ribbon occasionally seen on Eeyore's tail in Disney-drawn images, Eeyore is also boy. Says Eeyore, "At least I was...last time I looked. Thanks for noticing me." In fact, every character in "Winnie-the-Pooh", and "The House at Pooh Corner" are boys except Kanga. There are references to other female characters, namely some of Rabbit's friends and relations, but none of them have any speaking parts.

He's a male teddy bear.

Kudos to Kuji for citing the passage in the Winnie the Pooh book, where A.A. Milne "explains" Pooh's name.

Pooh's actual name derives from the combination of Winnipeg the Bear, a black bear cub on display at the London Zoo at the time of Christopher Robin Milne's childhood, and Pooh, a swan that Christopher Robin would often feed while on holiday.

Winnie the Pooh, also went by two other aliases, both definitely masculine. The first was Edward Bear, as he is introduced at the beginning of the book, but it's also revealed not much later that Pooh had also been living under the name of Mr. Sanders. Of course, when Christopher Robin asks for an explanation of what "Under The Name" meant, the author side-stepped the issue by saying that the name hung above Pooh's door in gold letters and that he literally lived under it...

I believe that Winnie the Pooh is a male bear. I'm not sure what type of bear, but that's not what your asking. If he is not a male bear then he needs a higher voice. And my younger siblings watch that show so I watch it with them and I believe that he has been refered to as a male multiple times throughout the ages.

Male. I used to be a big fan of Winnie the Pooh when I was little and the books and shows referred to him as a "he". He doesn't wear any underpants because he is a stuffed bear brought to life through imagination and animation. Most animals don't wear underpants. Look at Donald Duck, for example. Go figure. Hope I helped! *~HeavenEyes~*

Male because ...
1-if Disney wanted it to be a female character he'd wear all girly clothes and ribbons not a simple red t-shirt.
2-if he's a female he'd have exaggerated "eyelashes" ...it's always been the eyelashes that defines the male from the female in animation and cartoons ;;)
