let me think about that for a minute.......oh, no way. he is overrated (im my opinion) and he will be facing three teams in the division that have a shot at making the playoffs consistently. the denver and chargers defenses are the top around. i think that he will be lucky if he lead to a .500 record in the next four or five years let alone a superbowl.

Will they actually have an offensive line that knows the meaning of block? Will they give him a solid running game to help him adjust to the NFL and take pressure off the passing game? Will they have receivers that can be legitimate deep threats and catch the ball? Currently the answer to all three of these questions is no. Jamarcus Russell is not the silver bullet for all of the problems the Raiders organization faces right now. They have a young rookie coach, an incompetent owner, and no team morale. The addition of Russell will not solve any of these major problems overnight.

remember the raiders had the 3rd best defense in the NFL even though it spent 40 minutes a game on the field. They only needed to score 14 more points a game to be in the hunt for the superbowl. The off season has been spent bringing in help at o-line rb and wr. Russell is part of the improvement at qb. He will be a winner because the raiders are busy finding the player that will work at winning not wining.

Wo, wo, WO hold on here. A QB no matter how good he MIGHT be can win a championship himself. Maybe a good few drafts in the coming years and good offseason pick ups and they could rise up, but thats LONG LONG LONG way in the future. They really have no good young components they can build around other than Russell so be patient and ask this in 3-4 years.
Remember Peyton Manning has a shaky but intense defense and a powerful plethora of weapons on offense and hes the #1 QB in the NFL? Russell has a long way to go.

No, Jamarcus Russell is going to start behind Andrew Walter. He'll be lucky if he gets adequate playing time. They want to get him acquainted with the NFL first before throwing him in when hes not ready. Look at Romo... took the guy 4 years before he saw any starting action. I think Russell, if lucky, may become a starter somewhere between mid-season to late season depending on his development. There won't be enough playing time for him to turn the franchise around.

The only reason most of you jack asses say no is because he went ahead of Quinn. and to the dummy who says he got the big head, he hasn't even been seen or heard from since the draft. The good things he does in community shows he head by far is level. He never boasted or SOLD himself to be number 1, Quinn did. He will be a great player whether he sits or starts right away. I'm from his part of the map, and I'v been watching him since he was in highschool and there is not a better qb out there right now at his age!!! Overrated?
No, going 25-14 as a starter at Notre Dame is overrated!! 29-4 in the unforgiving sec? I think he's more prepared for greatness as anyone!!!

Not until they can build a solid OL and establish a decent running game. Some seem to think Russell will be the saviour who can do it all himself. The kid isn't that good, he'll need lots of help and time. Don't expect a quick fix for the Raiders.

Takes more than one person to win a championship. I have seen him play for LSU and he was like a man among boys. This guy is huge!!!!!!!
Time will tell but I believe he will do ok. He has arm strength and size to make him durable in the NFL.
Just remember both of the receivers he was throwing to were picked up in the first round as well.

A few weeks ago everybody was choosing the raiders on drafting Russell and if they didnt they would've become the dumbest team ever, know that they drafted him, everyone is against him, and saying he will fail, when they already had choosen him as the favorite. why? who knows, but the kid has talent. the offensive line has progressed and time will tell, but one thing is for sure the Chargers arent going nowhere with that no good coach and the chiefs look like they will be rebuilding.

They Raider's choice of Russell at #1 will go down as the 2nd biggest draft bust of all time. Charger's and Ryan Leaf will forever claim the #1 spot.
