Constipation can be caused by many different things in people, everything from not enough fiber in your diet, too many dairy products (especially cheese and ice cream), not drinking enough water, certain medications (especially cough medications and pain killers), as well as serious health problems can all cause constipation.

Occassional constipation happens to everyone. You can try eating fiber rich foods, 2-3 plums at a time, drinking apple juice, or using other natural methods to let it all flow out. When that fails, there are some great over the counter remedies. The most common is Dulcolax type products which contain biscodyl and can be purchased just about everywhere from drug stores to Wal Mart. They are good for occassional use, but some of them can take overnight to work. If you are having the severe stomach cramping and pain caused by constipation, pick yourself up some Fleet brand suppositories, they can be purchased at most drug stores and Wal Mart and they generally provide relief within a half hour, all though it usually happens sooner. For severe problems, use a Fleet enema, and you will feel relief within 5 minutes, so long as you hold the solution in for at least 3 minutes.

Frequent constipation can be a sign of more serious health problems including intestinal problems, IBS with constipation, bowel blockage, and other issues. If you suffer from frequent constipation, you should see your doctor.

I used to have problems with chronic constipation, and while some short term things helped (yoghurt was one of the best foods I've tried for constipation; I've also tried Colon Cleanse which I think was basically magnesium oxide but it took quite a while to work, much longer than the bottle indicated), the two best things I've found that helped were:

- homoeopathy: worked very quickly! it was brilliant for flushing out all the
stuff that had been sitting inside for ages. Definitely my #1 recommendation

- reducing the amount of meat in my diet. This I discovered by accident. I
decided to try a vegetarian diet, and my insides worked nicely. Then I
moved to Argentina, where they eat a lot of meat. So I did too... and boy
was I in agony. That's when I found yoghurt helped. Upon returning back
to my native country and cut out the meat again, the constipation literally
disappeared overnight.

Hope this helps. :)

I do not know whether you want to know what is constipation or get relieved off it. Constipation is the difficulty in defecation. you will feel like relieving but could not. You may have to strain.

To avoid constipation you have to have the followings steps to be taken.

1. Drink lots of water.
2. Take more fiber food.
3. Take lots of fruits like Papaya, banana
etc
4. Avoid spicy, oily food.
5. Do lots of exercises.

If you follow the above, you can have a
very happy relieving habit.

So what is your question? With no details, I don't know what it is you're asking. If you're constipated, eat fiber foods, such as whole grain cereals and bread, plenty of fruits and veggies, and drink lots of water. Stay away from laxatives, as they can become habit forming.

If you need further advice, please provide more details than just a word with a question mark. We want to help, but we are not mind readers. Good luck!

Water is the best cure for constipation, along with a diet high in fiber, and excercise! Prune juice or prunes themselves are beneficial.

Keep hydrated. Eat foods high in fiber - whole grains, leafy green veggies. Try some over the counter colace which is a stool softener. Good luck!

i;m guessing you mean how to help it? drink water more often to prevent it in the first place. Also lots of fiber like oatmeal, bran, veggies. but for now down a big glass of apple juice or something sweet like syrup on toast.. or eat a bunch of fruit. the sugar helps get things going, plus apples have fiber.
