If abortion is going to be made illegal at some point in the future, there should also be a law that holds men equally accountable. This seems especially appropriate when you realize that the abortion laws are being changed by men.

Any male who does not use contraception and an unwanted pregnancy occurs, that male should spend nine months in jail. Following the birth of this child, this male will be legally responsible for a portion of the child's living expenses through a court-determined date, payable to the adoptive parents or institution responsible for the child.

When you consider that most sexual contact is initiated by men (don't men complain about that all the time?) then it seems they would also want to carry part of the burden.

This isn't about the partial birth abortion bill. Nobody in their right mind, given full knowledge of the procedure, could approve of this to end a pregnancy unless the life of the mother was in immediate danger.

I think men are wonderful. I think sex is a wonderful thing. I think babies brought into a loving home are fantastic. I think forcing unwanted children into this world is as barbaric as killing them in utero. I think most pro-lifers haven't lifted a finger to help unwanted children and most pro-choicers have never distributed condomns. I think women and men are both responsible when it comes to sex. I'm hoping someone out there has some new ideas. That's the point of this exercise. Thoughtful answers are much appreciated.

That should have been "condoms."

Adoption waiting list? Okay, if you want a little white baby. But you should know that there are thousands of minority babies who need a good home.

It's not a good solution, but I understand the dilemma. It is a society where women are told to 'shut their legs' and 'shut up about it' as it is our fault. Men played a role.

I say if abortion does once again become illegal then we need to do some serious education on birth control, and abstinence only is not a solution. It should be broad spectrum education which includes abstinence as an alternative, but not the only alternative.

If you are upset about the recent Supreme Court decision to ban Partial Birth Abortion I truly am sorry. I am sorry that it is no longer legal for you to kill a baby, not fetus but baby at will. In case you are not familiar with the particulars of the procedure I will enlighten you. The baby is extracted feet first, and then while the head is still in the birth canal, a pair of scissors is inserted in between the skull and spinal cord, the scissors are then opened to widen the incision. Then a suction catheter is inserted into the incision and the contents of the skull... i.e. the brains are sucked out. The corpse is then removed from the birth canal.
Now that you know what you are adventing for, say it loud and proud. You think this is something you want to be legal.

I apologize if I misjudged by your initial statements. I however do disagree with you that most pro-lifers do nothing. most pro-lifers that I have met are people like my wife and I that are on an adoption waiting list.

First of all , the majority of Anti-abortion changes that are coming into play are being changed by WOMEN who are being tired of being brainwashed that this is just a pile of cells and they aren't murdering a baby.

Having said that, women have the right to say NO, men that don't abide by the woman's wishes are RAPISTS and I agree should do time in prision. NO means NO!

This is why, regardless of the personal position one has on abortion, that it should be settled in legislation, not "judicial precadence". If abortion was handled as a legislative issue, these aspects would be dealt with fairly (eventually), with appropriate legislation to address male rights (and liabilities) in the abortion issue.

What you say about the irresponsibility of the male gender when it comes to sex is correct and I agree with you.

However, abortion will ALWAYS be legal....a woman will ALWAYS have the right to make decisions concerning her own body and her reproduction choices.

A bad Pro-Life Position. You want to place all blame on the man, like you had nothing to do with it. If you don't want children, take precautions ahead of time!

Pro-life, as you well know, isn't about protecting the unborn. It's about controlling women.
