You may want to look in the blue pages (governmental listings) of your county phonebook for 'short-term disability' info phone number. If the pending divorce is causing a depression or other type of mental health issue, then you might be able to qualify for short-term disability but would need written verification by your family dr or a psychiatrist or such of your functional impairment (unable to work due to trouble focusing or such) and a diagnosis.

Getting a divorce is not a disability. You might be able to take some unpaid leave in an understanding company, or perhaps get lucky and get hit by a truck while crossing the street into court, but otherwise you'll probably find that working as usual will help you through the divorce process.

You need to qualify why divorce makes you disabled.
I highly doubt it is possible using divorce. If you are mentally unable to work and be diagnosed as such, you may have a side door. Family Medical Leave Act does not cover divorce.

I don't think they give leaves for Divorce, but you may be able to take leave time for "personal reasons" but I wouldn't tell them because of divorce.Check into the Family Leave Act, with your benefits cordinator.

Start with your boss.
See if your company offers a disability leave for that reason (It's a stretch, but maybe)
