Growing up my house was only maybe 200 feet from the train tacks. It was the only "through" tracks in our town, so there was a train every hour some days. My house shook all the time. I saw 3 different de-railments, and two people die getting hit by the train. My cat also got beheaded by the train.
My house looked directly at the place where the tracks switched to let other trains pass, so I saw many accidents. It was fun as a kid. As an adult and I think about how many people lost their lives, and I saw it, it makes me a little ill.

LOL! I'm sorry for laughing but when I was young, right out of high school, I lived in a house RIGHT next to the railroad tracks. It was cheap enough for 3 of us to share and that's all we cared about. But oh my God the noise and commotion that used to go on from those trains. I feel for you, I really do. We lost two dogs to those trains as well.

Now I live in a house just far enough away from tracks that sometimes I hear a train pass in the far distance late at night when it's quiet. That's not so bad.
