DO RN's ever get their weekends off? Or at least part of their weekends off? Do they have set schedules? How many days a week do they work?

I like to DJ on the weekends sometimes...maybe one saturday here or there in clubs here in Dallas...so I'm just hoping to have that still be a possibility if I do become an RN in the future.

DJ'ing electronic music is really my passion...but it sure doesnt pay the bills. :)

It depends on where you work. If you're working in a doctor's office, you'd very likely get weekends off. If you're working in a hospital, obviously SOMEBODY needs to work the weekend shifts, but some don't - you'd have to talk to the employer up front about that. There might be some jobs it would cut you out of, but far from all.

Many nurses work part time. For full-timers, four ten-hour days has become fairly common.

Are you kidding me? Weekends to themselves, hardly but maybe every other weekend. Being an Rn is time demanding, and some might work 3 twelve hour shifts a week, some might work a 40 hour week, then there are always the ones who seem to get stuck working more than their share. If you are wanting a career that is not demanding of your time, then being an Rn would not be your cup of tea!!

Full time is based on 40 hours a week. People are sick 24/7, weekends included---new RNs will get crummy hours in the beginning---you need to work at getting the better hours as time goes on., If you want a Doctor's office--they are open weekdays and off Wednesdays around the USA. relax and good luck.

It depends just like any other job, 40 hours unless they are just working part time.
