At that point it starts to hiss. I bought the car used with 90k miles. I've changed the oil/filter once. The old oil was only dark, but had no grit in it at all.

The AC is good and cold, *but* there's no difference when I turn on the AC and the MaxAC.

Could it be a fan problem?

How serious is this?

It may be as simple as low coolant in your radiator.I noticed that you mentioned @ changing the oil but nothing else.Check the radiator when the car is cold. Also, the overflow bottle. If you are low,add a 50/50 mixture of anti-freeze and water to top off the radiator and overflow to the proper fill lines. It's cheap to do but something you should check as part of regular maintenance on your vehicle.Good Luck.

Since it has good maintenance record the 1999 is the better choice. You'll never know if the previous owner's of the other vehicles took car maintenance seriously. And this could lead to serious problems down the road.

Start with the easy things: coolant level, defective thermostat, possibly cracked head or head gasket. Also, check clutch fan.
