No, it must be replaced. Don't live with that. Don't breath the mold when you pull up, it's dangerous. Really. Pull up the carpet and the pad and throw it away. Cut it into 4' sections. Roll it up and put it to the curb. Use a bleach and water solution to clean your subfloor. Live on the subfloor if you have to but get that mold out of your house.

Call a carpet cleaning person, they often charge to come out but if anyone is gonna be able to remove it without replacing your carpet it will be them. My brother slept on the floor once and got a bloody nose and it bled all the way through the carpet and had started soaking into the plywood underneath. I had a carpet cleaning specialist come in and they were able to not only remove the entire stain but were also able to pull the stuff out of the wood. They use some white powder that sucks everything to the surface over like 3 days then you just vaccuum it up.

Go to the mold remediation section of the yellow pages. Get several proposals which are often free and take it from there. Do this sooner rather than later because mold GROWS! Your health is at risk so this is not the place to cut corners and if a thorough job isn't done, it will come back. I suggest you also have an environmental analyst check the spore level after the job is completed. Good Luck!

i really dont think so..is it the dangerous black mold..or is it black in appearance...because if its the first why would you want too...mold in general can make you sick especially if you are allergic too it..all the time you are going to put into cleaning that carpet..you could replace it and be worry free

Well wiggle & giggle; be that as it may, if it's gone that far, its in the padding too and in the flooring.
Bite the bullit and rip up the stuff and chuck it all.
Bleach out the floors with everyday washing bleach(clorox) and wait a week and shop for new cpt and pad.
You're worth it!!!!!!!!

Contact the EPA online. I believe they can tell you what will and what won't work. You might want to try your county extension agent.

There is one thing that I know that will help: Try using "green broad" drywall.
