I remember when free agency first started (thanks Catfish Hunter). Many thought it would be great for professional sports. Since then ticket prices have gotten to the point where many people can't afford to go to games. Meanwhile, salaries keep getting higher and higher and team owners are wanting the public to pay for new stadiums. Seriously now, who really needs $10 million a year or more to live on?

You do have a point! I dont know why athletes get paid so much I guess its because they put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears and time into the sports they play. Nobody NEEDS 10 million dollars to live on people WANT that. I hate it when I hear about athletes and other rich people buying a gigantic 5 million dollar house with all the bells and whistles. WHO NEEDS ALL OF THAT? I never understood it.

The 10 million ones don't seem so bad now that we have even more monster salaries. The only cure is for people to stop paying to see the teams. When the revenue goes down, the salaries will go down. Same thing with TV. When people quit watching, the ad prices will go down and the revenue to the teams will decrease. Sadly, the people who have the bucks don't care and so nothing will be done. Look to see their salaries rise even more. After all, the athletes have to buy gas.

They get paid way too much. There are people out there that dont have a dime to their name and cant eat and live on the street. If they are getting paid that much then I think that it should be mandatory to give a little more back to the community. They say the US is the greatest country, how can that be when we have homeless all over and we also have people that eat off golden plates. Just my thought

I am all for people making money, but wow! My husband and I would love to go see a hockey, baseball or football game, but the ticket prices are way out of line. I don't know if its true or not, but I've also heard that the NFL wants to only show football on their NFL channel and charge extra for it. Everybody wants to make a buck!
