You can us lower amounts and just add them up. As long as it is at least .41 you are fine. For example, I'm sending a 4 oz. letter to Canada today - $1.62 - I have four .39 stamps and two .03 stamps. I keep an envelop of various denominations of stamps and just put the right amount on the letter. I have old .33 stamps that I use sometimes!

I asked for a book of stamps at the post office last week, and the post lady asked if I would use them up by the 14th because that was when they were changing.
