Tim Duncan! Tim Duncan is the only player you can build your offense around and be your defensive anchor. Steve Nash, Kobe Bryant, and Dirk Nowitzki are all outstanding offensive players, but none of them have ever been the vocal point of a great defense. Duncan can give you 20 points (on only 15 shots, 54% shooting) make great passes to open shooters and cutters from the post and go on the other end and totally shut down the lane on defense. No other player in the NBA can do that. Also if you need him to come up big in big games like today (33 points, 16 rebounds) he's there.

Steve Nash
People may say he's only good cause his great supporting cast... but if u watch him enough u can see how good he really is... he can take over a game like Kobe by scoring...or he can have a game with 20 points and 15 assist.
steve nash is the best player in the NBA

i'll have to say kobe bryant mainly because he has the best overall skills and the worst supporting cast among the superstars in the nba. he has no all-star player as his teammate, unlike tim duncan(ginobili and parker), steve nash(amare and marion), dwyane wade(shaq), lebron james(Ilgauskas) and allen iverson/carmelo anthony(they have each other). even though they were only seeded 7th in the tough west, we should remember that they had injuries all season long. he managed to carry the lakers by himself but just came up short in the post season when he really needed help.

i choose him because it will be obvious that if the other superstars that i listed above do not have their all-star teammates, they will have a hard time winning themselves. they may not even bring their team to the playoffs.

The best is player is also the best african born player in the NBA. He was born in South Africa and raised in Canada. Steve Nash. he shoots over 50%from the field, great ft shooter, and there is no better general on the court.

I think Duncan is too easy a choice (a good one tho) but Im gonna have to go with Kevin Garnett. He hasn't had nowhere near a reasonable team but can do play damn near all 5 positions. He gets no respect because his team hasn't gone anywhere, but when your loyal to a GM who's not giving you the right pieces, you end up in his situation. The only beef I have with him is he hasn't done anything salary-wise to help his GM put a better team in front of him.
