First thing when I get on a plane, I memorize where the emergency exits are.
I am always planning a way out, when I take a walk and see a scary looking dude following me, I plan what I will do, and he won't get away with it in my plan.
I plan how I will escape if someone breaks into my house. I see my child playing on rocks and think how am I gonna get to hospital really fast, before anything even happens.
when I go camping in the wilderness, I check out the nearest hospitals when I am on vacation, I don't think I am being unrealistic? am I?
Am I just a worrywort?

I'm sorry darling, but how come you didn't tell me all this things before? If you have time, email me,okay?

I hope you don't mind I write it all here, that's because I don't have any answer to this problem of yours...
But I honestly think that it's not morbid.
I rather to be called all kinds of funny names and being teased at, than die because I'm not prepared!

I don't think that is morbid and dark, unfortunately the world is a cruel place and accidents/robberies/assaults/plane problems do happen, every day. I think as long as worries do not keep you from letting your child climb, or experiencing camping, or worry you OUT of flying, you're just trying to imagine all scenarios and be prepared. Just remember, you can never plan for everything, and often circumstances surprise us and are out of our control. So keep up the safety plans and hospital checks, but don't let it consume your thoughts, because fears and worries and what ifs, can waste time, and make you miss out on the wonderful parts of the world.

Planning on how to get out of bad situations is a good idea, but it sounds to me like you're making too much out of the situations given...

I wouldn't worry too much about looking for the exits on a plane (I take it you're talking about an airplane), because chances are pretty good that if it's a commercial flight, you're probably not going to be able to use those exits without blowing out the cabin pressure and killing everyone...

You should probably just buy some pepper spray for instances when someone's following you-- but make sure they're actually following you before spraying them with that stuff, because it really sucks getting hit with that stuff...

If someone breaks into my house, they're gonna get a baseball bat up the side of their head...

And I have a first-aid kit in case one of my sister's kids hurts themselves (I have no kids of my own). I even have a field surgeon's pack... it used to be my Dad's from his ARMY days, but when he died, I took the first-aid kit (he didn't die while in the ARMY).

On vacations to states or cities or whatever, it's good to know where the hospital is... keep up on that one...

But overall, I think you're worrying a little too much. If you can't help it, then you can't help it, but try to relax a little more. You're going to stress yourself into an early grave, if you're not careful.

People will always call you that until some disaster strikes and you are the only one prepared. It is not morbid or dark to be prepared. Morbid and dark would be dwelling on death and pain in a way that brings you some sort of twisted pleasure. What you are describing is a way to mitigate the effects of a mishap or disaster. Way different.

I do the same.
That's not being morbid or dark, that is valuing life...yours and those of your family members.
I'm probably worse than you, cuz I used to run an ER and I have seen death happen every possible way. I do my best to prevent any forseeable tragedy by using my common sense.
Of course, you should not let worry dominate your life, just be prepared, be aware, and then enjoy.

I think its a good idea to have a plan for if anything goes wrong. Its not a bad thing, but if its taking over your life
(for example, your creating an emergancy plan for a short trip to the bathroom) then I suggest you get help cos thats a little OCD.

Who said you were morbid and dark, and in what circumstances. If you keep this stuff to yourself, at least one person is prepared for anything. Why bother them.
