At first, when they had said Ted instead of Quinn, I was extremely pissed off. It took me about two days to clear my head and actually look at the good side of the draft. They shouldn't have picked Ted no, but they should've gotten Beck right off the bat, then picked a better receiver. I do like the decision of getting Ted, but there are better, heavier, and probably faster receivers. Yes, Wes Welker is small, but he's a heck of an athlete, he's way better than Ted.
They said Quinn can't play against a good team (LSU last year, 42-10) He throws anyways if theres no one open, not a quick release, doesn't work well under pressure, and he may have a bit of an attitude problem. Beck is an awesome athlete already. He's older yes, but he's mature, and he has a quick release like Marino, I've seen him on some videos, man can he zip that ball. He works extremely well under pressure, and scambles until he sees someone open and if he doesn't he'll throw away. If he's about to get sacked, the ball won't be there, it's already gone, and it's headed for that open receiver. He said that he;s going to watch films all the time, learn the offense, and he's already directing the offense and telling them where to go. He's going to be a good leader in the future. With the D that Miami has, watch out, this could be a good year.
Here's the other people they got. (Besides Ted)
Samson Satele, OL: Knows the D like he's on it himself, and can be put anywhere on the Line.
Lorenzo Booker, RB: He's fast, but he'll be a backup, he doesn't have the best work ethic.
Paul Soliai, DT: Converted Offensive Lineman, he's still developing, but he knows an offenseive line, and may know how to control them easier, since he is their size.
Reagan Mauia, FB: Not sure about this guy, but Miami needed another FB, and he can be used to block.
Drew Mormino, OL: We needs another O-Line, he's aggresivr and big, he's very good when pass blocking.
Kelvin Smith, LB: A very big need, the LB Crew of Miami is getting old, but with Zach Thomas and Joey Porter, he can learn how to play better, and he'll end up being a good LB.
Brandon Fields, P: Another punter, woo hoo.
Abraham Wright, DE: From New England, and hopefully he can help out along with Jason Taylor and Keith Traylor.
Overall: I beleive they did a super job of getting players. They got a start on their O-Line, and they've needed help there for five years. They have a rookie QB who can help out too, and with the Defense Miami has had for the last five to seven years, it could be a good year. We'll just have to see what happens. Can Beck run our offense, or is it another 6-10 year?

They did a hell of a job picking John Beck, i had him as my top rated QB, also you bring up a good point about Brady Quinn being a little b*tch on how he has an attitude problem. But Ginn was not the best choice here, sure he replaces Wes Welker as a returner and speed reciever but he is not the best WR avaible, they should have traded down if they wanted Ginn because he would have been there later.
As for the later picks i thought they did a good job adressing many needs at differnt posistions and they secured depth at multiple posistions. So i dont blame the Dolphins for not picking Quinn at all. Beck is better.
hope that helps you out.

Outside of new head coach Cam Cameron, few personnel men liked his first draft. Most thought the Dolphins really reached on Ohio State receiver/returner Ted Ginn, Jr. who still isn't healthy. Ginn could develop into a game-breaking receiver, but most teams rated him lower in the round. BYU quarterback John Beck is 26 and very accurate and Cameron loves his intelligence, and obviously they weren't interested in Brady Quinn. Beck was judged by most teams as the fourth to fifth best quarterback in this draft. Utah defense tackle Paul Solia in the fourth round was decent value. Florida State RB Lorenzo Booker might end up being the draft's best all-purpose runner. But why do they need him if Ricky Williams is returning? The best thing the Dolphins did was not cave into Kansas City's demands for QB Trent Green, who probably will be released later in June. Grade: C-

They definitely picked Ted Ginn too early. Cam Cameron didn't even announce him as a reciever when he was talking to the fans. He announced him as a kick returner. They could have traded out of this pick and picked up extra players in the draft. It would have been tough, but they could have traded down and then traded to the Browns so they could get Quinn later in the first round. That way they could have gotten their reciever in Ginn, a few extra picks in the second day of the draft, and the Browns first pick next year. And they still would have gaurenteed themselves Beck in the second round. If they had done this I think it would be considered one of the best drafts ever. And they would have paid a lot less money to a player who may turn out to be another Troy Williamson (fast but runs bad routes and doesn't have great hands.)

yeah Ginn was a surprise for their 1st pick in the draft, i think they could have moved up to take him later in the round, but Beck was a highly scouted Quarterback, he didn't get the recognition that Russell and Quinn got. He's a solid player with a great arm. He should fit into Cameron's system quite well. Overall, yeah something may be stirring in Miami this year.

Although I keep hearing how bad this draft was for the Dolphins, I don't think it was all that bad. First, they have a good QB in Beck, Ginn WILL make plays on Special Teams and Offense. Not to mention they drafted a couple of offensive linemen, running back, Full back, DT, and a punter. We all second guess the Miami coaches for drafting Ginn so early but I guess we will have to wait and see. My Opinion: Good Draft!! GO FINS!!!

The Carpies didn't do too bad. Ginn is certainly better than any receiver that would've been available when they picked Beck, but whether or not the difference is enough to justify passing on Quinn remains to be seen. Personally, I think Beck will bust 'cause he'll be pissing his pants in front of Buffalo's pass rush:)

Beck was a good pick and he may turn out to be a decent player as they need a quarterback. The fact that they do not have a decent quarterback is the reason why Ginn is not a great pick. Both Culpepper and Harrington are worthless QB's.

there pick of tedd ginn jr. was a bad pick. he will not be a good receiver and may have some impact in the return game but is small and easily injured. there other picks were pretty good. john beck could turn out to be a good qb in a few years. booker should complement ronnie brown nicely. they addressed the offensive line and their defensive front seven. its pretty hard to have a bad draft when you have 10 draft picks. i still think they wasted a pick on ginn though.

No, their drafting was sub-par if not in the lowest quadrant in the league. The Dolphins have not been a respectable team since Marino. They need a good classic fundamental quarterback and you can't expect too great results from any QB out of the draft outside of Quinn and Russell. Especially considering the fact that they didn't have to trade up, they missed out HUGE.
