I need a speech topic?

I can't talk about abortion, affirmative action, juvenile offenders treated as adults, medical marijuana, poverty/welfare, violence in media/ hate speech, guns, genetically modified organisms, euthanasia, anti-terrorist policies and civil liberties, foreign immigration, gay rights or gambling. I know, all the good ones, but I just want something persuasive and creative.

I did a speech on the purpose of armpit and genitalia hair, it is actually very interesting- and can be persuasive (why to not shave it off). I got an A and the class and teacher loved it. Not many speeches about that topic! And, those are not all the good ones- those are all the tired, over-used ones.

Is this for Public Speech class? Or for a particular school subject? Whats the main topic that you have to speak about? Can it be anything? Or does it have to be about politics, news and social issues?

Choose something you, yourself, would like to learn more about or already know extensively. Anything at all. For example:

a country you'd like to visit someday

an illness a family member might have

the increasing speed at which trends and products change in this nation.

the internet's impact on the entertainment industry, advertising, shopping or even it's effect on the world in general etc. etc.

parenting and child behavior in the present compared to two or three decades ago.

the effect of telelvision and movies on children under the age of ten and how that has changed over the last couple decades.

or anything you have a strong opinion about. make sure its not anything you aren't interested in, or your feelings will show through during your speech. If you're bored with the topic, then everyone listening will be bored with you.

political ideoligical development. I was thinking maybe communist china. How the idea of communism is sustained as a controlling force but examine how the principles have been eroded and conclude on where its at. IM watching the last emperor as i type. Its very good. :)
IN fact, you could also do the cost of the monarchy if youre in such a society, otherwise it may not be relevant but given that china is streaking past all others in terms of economic progression and output as well as co2 emissions (another possible topic) it seems fairly topical. Good luck.

Why Americans should travel to other countries! Most Americans dont even have a passport. Only 22% of the American population own passports. Persuade people to want to get out of the country to explore/expeirence, and learn about other cultures/countries. It helps you also become a more knowledgable and well rounded person.

How about something about NOT Drinking and Driving...

You could point out stats on accidents, arrests and their consequences, create a power point slide show of stats and images of police cars, pedestrians, children, seniors victims, or even the sign markers we all see along a road most anywhere where people are sending message to not drink and drive for there loves ones were killed at those spots...so on....there are many things that could be used in this topic to be creative and very persuasive...

or to make it even simpler, you could give a speech on how it is better to own a home instead of renting....plenty of pros and cons there too.

or you could cover topic of smoking and its harm to health, society, etc...

How about a speech on how more pratical things need to be taught in high school. In particular, how to balance a checkbook, what a credit report is and why it is important, how credit cards work, how to qualify for a mortgage and the different types available, how to prepare your own income tax, etc.

How about females for president? Or health insurance for minors, why you shouldn't have to take the ACT/SAT to get into college, sexist behaviors in your school, town, work etc, religion in schools, methamphetamine problems, the great literary minds of the 20th century..... that's all i got...

you didn't mention the elderly. what about their rights, and needs or the major lack of nurses going on around the world. did you know that rich and powerful countries like the u.s and britain are actually taking nurses from smaller countries even african towns that may only have a handful of nurses for hundreds of patients, and taking them away and promising them a better life. look into it, its pretty crazy. http://www.nursingadvocacy.org/faq/nursing_shortage.html
