I died briefly five years ago. I lost all sense of self and I was traveling i the bright white light. I didn't have one human reaction. There was total and complete peace and contentment. I believe it an afterlife, a spiritual self that leaves our earthly bodies

No evidence exits that there is life after death. We are driven by fear of death that is built in every human being. This is why we want to believe in a second chance, or reincarnation, or anything. If such a thing exists then it gives birth to a billion of questions that just can't be resolved. What about our pets, any creatures that populate (and populated) the earth? And what about fish, dinasours, neanderthals? It would be great to think that we turn into some kind of energy but I am afraid truth is much more disgusting. Flesh rots and mostly goes into earth to fertilize the soil and to sustain the nature. The same nature that created strange mamals then replaced them by reptiles and then bringing back mammals again. Yes, human beings have intellect. We created all kind of amazing stories and myths in which somehow we beat the death or go to some new green pastures, Elysian Fields, etc. In the reality, we are fragile creatures, not even strong like animals and scared to death...

There are lot of people who believe in life after death, but very few, if any that have any kind of personal knowledge of it. NDEs don't really count since they can be explained by more conventional means. If there is a life after death, I'll be surprised, but not shocked. If there isn't I won't know the difference, anyway, so I don't worry much about it.

I certainly encourage you to live a life of harmony and peace. There's no need to predicate that objective upon life after death. Just do it. I DEFINITELY encourage you to live THIS life as if it's your only one, since it probably is.

Not me.
There is no such thing as life after death. There is no balance or harmony. It's all a nice illusion. The fact is that the "universe" could not care less if every human died tomorrow. The earth would continue spinning around the sune for the next few billion years.
