be careful of how short your shorts and skirts are. so many of the styles are super skimpy and brief...and you don't know how disturbing it is to people in their 20's to see girls your age walking around in some of those shorts and skirts. keep it mid thigh, girls. no more pants or shorts with words across the butt, either. no one wants to read your butt. and do you want old men and gross men and people like your parents or the horrifying boy at school looking there? nah-uh, right? Anything else is fine. Tank tops are great, dresses, tees and mini skirts (again, not too mini. learn from paris, learn from britney, we don't wanna see what's in betweeny.-i just made that up, but it's true!). you can even have a solid tee or tank with capris and then use accessories to add punch or blocks of color. and you don't need to run to dark hollister or abercrombie. you can find great clothes and wear them and express yourself without blasting labels everywhere. oh, and no more knock off designer logo bags, like those luis vatton/coach/dooney&burke/gucci ones with the intertwined monograms all over it? shake it up! be original! sew your own bags and skirts with fabric you find and love. you're 13, you've got all summer to play. why not try your hand at designing? buy fashion mags, go through them, cut out what you like and put it in a blank book. then go through it and try and replecate the things you like, only adding your own touches or patterns. next summer you'll be of age to get a job. enjoy this one and try something new!
good luck!
have fun!
no short shorts!

A babydoll tank layered over a thin tee can't go wrong. Ballet flats and wedges in bright colors are also a fashion must. And you must have at least one summer dress! Try nordstrom.com's Junior's department, they have great styles!

It's very simple, look at internet and seek for departamental stores near you, look the prices and get fashion by the same level.
Don't always must be expensive.

I like young girls in jeans. It makes them look more city like and it generally does not look like they try too hard but if you are trying to get this folks attention, this may not be what you want

I do enjoy wearing long skirts once in a while. They can be actually more comfortable than Denims and not as hot to wear also.

Go to Wetseal. They have such bright clothing. And that is what's "in" for the summer time.
