Hello dtred!
First, regardless of your writing subject, your thesis must contain opinion without containing the words "I" or any other form of the first person. The thesis statement cannot contain fact only; it must also include opinion.
Having stated that, I would now ask, what aspect of heart disease are you most interested in? causes, treatments, prevention, making life-style changes to protect one's own heart? Once you have decided that, you can begin to brainstorm for ideas with that field.
Here is an example of something that I would be interested in writing about, and good writing comes from an interested writer. There are two major types of heart defibrillators that have saved millions of lives today. One is an internal one. It is like a pacemaker but is slightly more sophisticated and is used for people who have heart arrythmia problems rather than heart vessel blockage. The other type is an external defibrillator. This is the type of device being installed in airports, schools, and other public places. A possible thesis sentence might be "External Defibrillators can save thousands of lives each year if (enter your state's name) requires them to be installed in all public buildings and offers public training through fire departments and in schools on how to use them."
There would be plenty of information online to help you. Careful!! No plagiarism!!! Paraphrase the words, i.e. put them into your own words. Be sure to list references if your teacher requests them.
Good luck!

OK, I love doing thesis statements. First you must take what you are writing for example a five paragraph paper on your topic heart disease. The first paragraph will be intro, the next three would be body and the last would be conclusion. You must take the three paragraphs and formulate a three part thesis. Say your first body paragraph is about the causes, the next one is about the affect it has on life, and the last body paragraph is about the prevention. You would formulate a balance thesis.
Here it is: an example of course...
Heart disease is a major medical factor in this country because of its causes, the extreme effect it has on life, and the limited treatment available for its prevention.

I saw this on answers the other day so I can not claim it as an original thought but the question was and I believe a very good argument for the side of creation was...... If we did evolve and evolution is an acceptable scientific theory, then why have the apes not evolved?......... I want to congratulate you on not asking us to do your homework, just getting a starting point...... You could open with that observation but in the form of a statement.....good luck..

Heart disease kills (insert statistic here) Americans annually. High blood pressure, the "silent killer," is a risk factor for heart disease that continues to be inadequately detected and treated.....
You can go on to explore specific data about high blood pressure, guidelines for treatment, goals for treatment, and ethnic differences in rates of BP control. Choose one area to single out and estimate how much the death rate could be lowered if BP treatment was better. If you don't like BP, you could do another risk factor like diabetes, cholesterol, or smoking.

Forget anything you have ever been told about Diabetes.
And get this - it has nothing to do with insulin, exercise, diet or anything else you've heard in the past. It's all based on latest breakthrough research that Big Pharma is going Stir Crazy to hide from you.
