Travelzoo has great deals weekly.
Both AA and Southwest have weekly deals right now and special sales. Just sign up on their websites.
The other airline to check out would be Delta since SLC is one of their hubs.
Usually between those you'll find the best deals.

Good that you have a whole month and a half to get the ticket. When I used to fly once a month, I found the cheapest flights on Southwest Airlines and used their computer program. This program will send you deals almost every morning, sometimes twice a day listing flights that are competitively priced for a month in advance. I used to check all the time to get round trip flights from Reno to Seattle. Usually $200 round-trip. Check it out.
