I would suggest fish. A good african cichlid tank would be awesome.

The best, easiest pet to have is TWO cats. Unless you are allergic to cats, of course.

Two cats can keep each other company when you aren't home and they'll keep you company when you are. You'll have TWICE the love and playfullness. They will keep each other well exercised.

With cats you don't have to rush home after work to let them out. You can even go away for a weekend, just leave extra food, water and another litter box.

Cats can and SHOULD live indoors and don't mind even if your apartment is small, as long as you have plenty of toys around.

Yes, cats can be destructive, but look at it this way -- is that sofa really worth more than the living, breathing, AFFECTIONATE cats? Try to train them not to claw the sofa but don't stress over it. And DON'T declaw them, it's extremely cruel.

I guess a bird (or two -- all animals prefer company) can also be a good pet. Iguanas are cool but need a lot of room. Snakes can be interesting but aren't affectionate. A pair of rabbits might be nice but they also need a lot of room.

Have fun with your new pet(s)!!

It would depend on WHY your allergic to rodents. Is it because of ticks? Is it the fur? etc et. Because most people are allergic to the tics and fur of pets and not the actual pet itself. If this is the case then you might not be able to keep any pet with fur. which makes it highly unlikely that you are only allergic to just rodents. so you might try that hairless cat or fish...It is best that you try and find out. Although there are dogs that have 'hair' and no fur. I forget what you call them but i believe the shitzu is one of them and the pekinese...you might want to check those last two names before merely taking my word for it!

Good luck on your venture for a pet, I hope that helped.

I would suggest fish or a bird. If you are allergic to furred critters you probably wont do well with dogs, cats, rats, etc. Stick with something simple and easy to care for and you should have no problem. Good luck finding the right one for you.

A small bird or a reptile-a lizzard of somekind or a snake. Unless you would be willing to take it outside at least 4 times a day, don't a get a dog but you could get a cat.
