If the latin countries were to unite into something like the EU, it would bring economic growth and increase political stability. The EU has become richer and all the governments are democracies. This will help the latin american countries for the short term and the long term.

With what's been happening down there now: I think it would be one of the biggest Communist organizations in the world outside of Russia, and the poorest.
The people of most of these Countries are on the streets now, live in the "cast" system, their leaders still taking off the top and leaving the people a very small amount to live on.
They listen to these leaders without cause to look at what's happening. Chavez is crazy and one day, there Government will eventually fall through.
What's so great about Cuba, the people have been starving by Castro since the beginning, they still brag about "being the best" then why does our Coast Guard and Navy spend all it's time saving these people from the ocean and escaping if his way of life is so good.

The missing children and the killer gangs of Brazil, there well known throughout the world. The ghettos of the high lands of Brazil and Argentina. We've only to open a National Geographic to see what it's really like down there.
Russia was the end result of Governments like Chavez is creating, it's in the cards.

Everyone would benefit. I hope it happens.
I would like to see the US, Canada, and Mexico do the same thing.
