According to wikipedia.com, killer whales are classified as "Conservation Dependent" (LR/cd), the focus of a continuing taxon-specific or habitat-specific conservation programme targeted towards the taxon in question, the cessation of which would result in the taxon qualifying for one of the threatened categories below within a period of five years.

Killer whales, also known as orcas or "wolves of the sea", are not extinct. Though in danger of decreasing population due to overfishing of their main diet (salmon), there are still several pods (family groups) of orcas around the world. The most popular in the US are located around the Seattle/Vancouver areas. There is one pod that stays in this area year round and two others that come during the summer months (known as J, K, and L pods). There are also several "transient" groups that move about from Seattle to southern Alaska in the summer.

No, they are common in the wild and there are many in marine parks around the world. They are not even endangered, let alone extinct.
