Yeah, sure! You've got a wide range of choices for the processor, depending on what programs you intend to run on your PC. The AM2 Semprons are dirt cheap. The Athlon 64 singles and X2 3600+ cost less than $100. The faster X2s are very affordable. The motherboard uses ddr2 RAM only w/c is also very cheap nowadays.

What are you waiting for, start building your new rig.

The Socket 754 platform is done. You will not be able to upgrade to a new processor like the Athlon X2 dual-cores. (you can upgrade to an Athlon 64, but I don't believe AMD are making any more). Also the AM2 platorm supports tfaster and higher bandwidth DDR2 RAM while the 754 only accepts standard DDR. So in short 754 is older, slower and not really upgrade-capable. AM2 is the better choice.

This is most likely a fairly recent motherboard, as AMD only released the AM2 socket microprocessors in May of last year.

The AMD AM2 CPU isn't a bad choice, though they still are keeping up with the Intel Core 2 Duo.
