my friend sprained her ankle pretty bad a few days ago and now she said it feels better but its itching really bad.

That's usually true. Yes. Maybe she has a wrap on it and leaves it on too long so that her skin is drying out. This will cause itching for sure.

When you have a healing scar it itches but I have never heard of a sprained ankle itching as it heals.

mostly for skin it is true because when it is healing, it will make new nerves which are very sensitive and itch.
