I see so many comics that aren't written by the original comic makers... Where can I find them? Where can I read them? Where can I buy them?
Who wrote Spider-man, x men, super man, and the other classics?

Part of the reason for this is the original creators are dead in many cases. Superman was created back in 1938 by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. Shuster was the artist but he had some vision problems, so he brought in outside help with the artwork. Siegel was drafted during WWII, and some other guys filled in for him while he was at war. Shuster died in 1992 and Siegel died in 1996. Spider-Man and the X-Men were both created by Stan Lee for Marvel Comics. He was writing many of the books and acted as the editor, so he eventually wrote less and focused on more managerial parts of the job.

As for buying them, well, the first Superman appearance is worth over a million dollars. You can probably pick up reprints of early comics at your local comic book store. Also, Marvel has been putting many of their titles on DVD. You can buy a DVD with every issue of the Amazing Spider-Man from 1963 to 2006 (see Amazon listing at http://www.amazon.com/Amazing-Spider-Man-Complete-Comic-Collection/dp/B000HKIM7Q/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2/103-9964716-9351868?ie=UTF8&s=software&qid=1178507971&sr=8-2 and I believe Circuit City has it on sale this week as well) and every issue of the Uncanny X-Men from 1963 to 2005 (see http://www.amazon.com/Years-X-Men-Collectors-Win-Mac/dp/B000E28UT2/ref=pd_bxgy_sw_text_b/103-9964716-9351868?ie=UTF8&qid=1178507971&sr=8-2 ), plus the Avengers and some others. They are in pdf format.

As far as getting the original comics Spider-man and the x-men are from the 60's and Superman 1938 You can pick up reprints but as you can see the history is to long. You will also find the current stories more enjoyable. Reading some of the older comics just don't make sense anymore. B/c of the tech used in the stories just seem silly today. Ask the shop owner to point out some good books. Many new readers like Marvels Ultimate Line b/c you don't need to know the history of the heroes to enjoy them. Superhero movies are great but if comic books are going to survive people need to buy them not just read them on line. Enjoy.

nicely, mixing heroes from the ask your self & DC universes is often stressful- the biggest villians are constantly extra useful than any single hero, and DC has extra extremely-useful heroes (Superman, Captain ask your self, ask your self lady, Martian Manhunter, Lobo, power lady, green Lantern, Dr destiny, Spectre and so on) than ask your self yet there are some exceptions like dark Phoenix, Thor, Hercules, Hulk and so on. the subject is that heroes like Iron guy & the imaginitive and prescient are exciting, yet nowhere close to as useful simply by fact the right-end human beings. ask your self's mutants are frequently in that very same class. Quicksilver can run quicker than the fee of sound, yet he's a slowpoke whilst in comparison with DC's speedsters. Galactus trumps virtually everyone different than the Beyonder or Molecule guy. whilst Superman fought Batman, that became an option destiny timeline the place they have been the two extra or less 2 a protracted time older than they at the instant are- purely grab "The dark Knight Returns" image novel. numerous years in the past Superman became killed by potential of Doomsday, after Doomsday had plowed through and hospitalized something of the Justice League. The "suitable" lineup of ask your self is a extra perfect journey, dissimilar the suitable heroes are way extra suitable than the regular ask your self variations.

As far as marvel comics goes, look for the huuuuge "Essential Classic" books. For example, here's the X-men one:

http://www.amazon.com/Essential-Uncanny-X-Men-Marvel-Essentials/dp/0785109919/ref=pd_bxgy_b_text_b/104-7382122-0487920?ie=UTF8&qid=1178579048&sr=8-1

You can find them nearly anywhere. Barnes & Noble, Borders, Amazon, etc. They run about $15-$20.
