I fertilized my lawn about 2 months and then I sprayed weed be gone all in the front yard about 2 weeks ago. My grass is starting to turn yellow. Does anybody know why and what can I do to fix it?

There are certain fertilizers you use at different times of the year. You do not want to use a fertilizer that is high in nitrogen for example when it is hot outside. In springtime or fall when the weather is cooler you can use something a little higher in nitrogen but not in the hot months. Something with lower nitrogen and potash in the summer with Iron in it is probably preferable. The Iron will not stress the grass out so much and will give the Grass a luscious green color. Remember not to get it on concrete or you will have rust stains. Weed killer usually has a defoliant in it so that after you spray it the plant will (within a couple of days start to wilt and give the appearance of dying. Most weed killers simply speed up the aging process of the plant and make it age quicker and die. Remember - Anything you do to grass stresses it. Mowing (use a sharp blade) fertilizing and weed killer all creates stress for your grass. Mowing at 3" is preferable as this encourages better root development and shades the root zones (helps retain some moisture. Anyway I hope this helps/ Always water your grass in the morning and evening. Unless you have Bluegrass - morning is best - Otherwise you can end up with a fungus.

I think your weed be gone is working. What you need to do now is water the heck out of your lawn, for a couple of weeks, then fertilize again. I t should come back nice and green. Water is important in keeping the grass green, plus a good fertilizer. The landscape co. I used to work for used triple 16 fertilizer and it worked really well.

I just keep a can of green lawn paint. The grass is fine, just yellow.

You have stressed the grass out. Don't apply anything else. Water often and let your grass recover it if can. You have to be careful when applying chemicals...too much is not good.
