There is a bush growing in my back yard, in the Spring it has red blooms, later it bares fruit. The fruit kind of resembles green apples. It also has thorns. What the heck is the name of this bush???

It is a flowering quince, also called a burning bush, they bloom very early in tne spring, blooms begin before the leaves sprout.

Take a cutting to the local nursery for identification.
