This past Saturday was Free Comic Book Day and I was lucky enough to have one of my favorite comic book mini series signed by the artist and writer. My question is, besides Free Comic Book Day, which only happens once a year, how can I get the artist's and writer's autograph for my other comics?

Many artists and writers make personal appearances at comic book conventions. There are many around the country. The website http://www.comicbookconventions.com/ has most of the big ones listed.

Ask your local comic shop if they will be having any other autograph signings in the future, and mark your callendar.

You generally need to go to comic book conventions when those artists/writers are featured guests.

Or, if they are not yet famous, do as I did and visit them while they are touring the (few) shops that carry their new title. That’s how I got Eastman and Laird’s autographs on my first six TMNT’s!

Barring that, try writing to them c/o the publishers. If you ask politely, the may give you an appointment to come and they will autograph them for you.

Or you could offer them a good steak dinner if they will meet you, etc, etc.

Some writers (novelists, but hey, it costs nothing to ask) will autograph their works if you mail them to them with return postage and an SASE.

Good luck!

I recommend visiting comic book conventions like the New York Creation Con, or the San Diego Comic Con, or similar events. They usually happen annually, and are adverstised in various comics and gaming magazines.
Also websites like Midtown Comics Dot Com will have information on comic conventions, artist appearances, and more.

Find out when and where comic conventions are being held, and see if the particular artist will be attending. Conventions are basically held like circuits, so the roster changes; if not, you might try to contact the company that produces the comics and learn if they handle such requests.

the general answer is Comic Book Conventions, but check with such non traditional sources like QVC, HSN, they will from time to time sell autographed issues. Why not try eBay or another online auction site ? Someone may be selling your fav. right now.
