Because it really doesn't have an end.
It is the effect of sunlight refracted into the different colours of the spectrum by the billions of tiny droplets in the air all acting as tiny prisms.
It isn't an actual physical object, so we can't touch it or find the end.

Rainbows are beautiful, it would be nice to see the end of it. But I wouldn't worry to much about finding the end to a rainbow, just enjoy its beautiful presence in the sky with the sun shining or a little spring shower and a few gray clouds. Appreciate the colours that are being created and enjoy how long it lasts before it fades away.

all it is is water vapors and the way the light hits it in certain ways causes the colors to apear even though they aren't really there-- thats why us cool irish people put leperchauns with pots of gold at the end of them ((no one will find it since it doesn't exist))
