A passport is a federal document, theft of a federal document is a felony punishable by 5 years in a federal prison. tell her to cough it up or you will report it.

If you have to resort to legal actions to get her to give it back, then maybe you are a bit immature. That's why she is able to do this. She sees you as a child. You need to see yourself differently. Now imagine a 40 year old man whose mother won't give him his passport back. Do you think that 40 y.o. man would need to ask anybody for help on this? No, and you should be no different if you are really mature. Think about what is the mature way to solve this problem. Call the cops? I think not. The police are busy with real problems. Adults negotiate. If that fails, just get another passport.

Hey legally you can drink and you've been legally able to drive on your on. So if you cant tie your on shoe string then I guess I KNOW WHY. she cant do anything except try to hide important papers from you that you will need. Valid state ID, Birth certificate, Social Security card, A place of residence and some other things a photo etc. go to the local post office and they will tell you and give you an application.

Just get another passport. If the other one was done while you were a minor, you really need a new one anyway.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess you're still living at home, right. If so, if you're still eating mommy's food and sleeping on the sheets mommy washed and eating the meals mommy cooked, mommy has some control over your life.

Yeah call the cops and tell them she wont give you your property. Or ask a family member to get it for you, they may have to "steal" it. Good luck.

Tell her that she can keep it, because you can always get another one anyway. She will give it back to you then.

Call the cops and report it stolen. When they ask if you have an idea where it might be turn your mother in.

Just get a new one. Tell them the old one is lost, as it is.
