Makes Spidey seem like an amateur crime fighter. Also took him down a few notches in my ranking of superheroes. (#1 Superman, #2 Batman, #3 Wolverine & #4 Spidey)

No other superhero uses a police scanner to discover crimes.

Spidey was #3 now he is #4 for using the scanner. (#1 Superman, #2 Batman, #3 Wolverine & #4 Spidey)

Why would a superhero listen to a police scanner to find out about crimes?

I think it would be smart to use a police scanner. Spidey dosen't have any powers that inable him to know when crimes are happening. Personally Spidey is still my #1 superhero.

First of all Spidey is not like superman. Superman is an alien with super hearing and vision. Spiderman is a human being that got big by a radioactive spider and it gave him super powers but his powers are limited. He can shoot webs and crawl ont he walls and has a sixth sense ablity but he's not superman.
Besides there is nothing wrong with using a police scanner because the all the television news stations use them...how do you think they get to the scene of the crime at about the same time the cops do?

I too saw Spiderman 3 on opening day and there THREE THINGS I didnt like about it (aside from these the movie was GREAT)

1. Spidey uses a police scanner instead of his "Spidey Sense" (or aything else not so lame)
2. Loved the action scenes - well done - but if they (to me) had added a bit more dialouge into it instead of making it seem like all the point of the talking was to keep it short to lead up to the fights ... spidey 1 and 2 had more of a "lean in"
3. C'mon I kinda thought that Spidey as Black Spidey (Venom is NOT the same) looked WAYY too much like Adolf Hitler or some other nazi and NOT NEARLY enough as Black Spidey (the way he should have looked from the comic book) ... when I go to see Spidey I want to see bad azz action i.e. Venom, Carnage, Mary Jane etc.... not be remined of horrible genocides.

He is a kid in New York with special physical powers...and spider sense....but that won't tell him in a city as congested as New York where /what crime is being perpetrated. It is actually a great use of realism....in an unrealistic scenario....there by helping make the unrealistic seem more believable...I liked that he used the scanner, it helped explain things they don't bother with in comic books and most movies.

Would it make you feel better if I told you it's the latest technology scanner, and it's made to fit in any corner of any spider web.

You have a good point I didn't even think about that. I was going to put "no clue" but apparently that isn't considered to be an answer. Wow I didn't know that.
