Science fiction sometimes calls our moon "Luna" or whatever name that writers call it. But in reality, it's simply just called "Moon". Moon....that's the name of the moon that's orbiting Earth. Oh, and by the way, "Titan" orbits Saturn, not Jupiter.

Sounds like most are right on track -- yes it is simply called Moon. Luna is the Greek name for the Moon hence the Lunar Cycle, Lunar Eclipse, etc.
BTW Titan is a moon that circles Saturn.

Think of it this way, The Moon is named so because it is possessive of the earth's inhabitants. If you are talking about your spouse to someone, and you want them to know that you are together, do you use their name or My Spouse? I would use My Spouse. The same applies to The Moon. Luna is just Latin for Moon.

It's called the Moon - we didn't know about moons on other planets before we knew about our moon - so the name moon is kind of staple now for large objects that orbit planets.

The Moon is the best thing the Earth has - every being that has been on Earth has seen the moon along with you.

MISTAKEN! MISTAKEN! MISTAKEN!!!!!!!!!

The "official" name is the Moon, with a capital M.

LUNA is the Greek's name for our moon, not its "official" name.

LUNA is the personified goddess of the moon.
Later she is identified with Diana and Hecate.

Her temple, on the Aventine Hill, was erected in the 6th century BCE but was destroyed by the great fire under Nero's regime. She is equivalent to the Greek Selene.
