Wow first of all that is so cute that you have a baby elephant. So about your question your dog is just like a child. He is wondering where do I stand in this family now. Are they going to forget about me? Just be patient and spend some alone time with your dog at least every other day to let him know that everything is going to be okay. Show him or her that you love him/her unconditionally.

I would give it time and keep a close eye on them when they are near each other. I have had my Boston Terrier pup for like 2 monthes now and my 3 yr old Boxer mix still doesn't like him.
