1. first subtract the 5: -4c/7=3
next multiply both sides by 7 to get -4c=21
now divide both sides by -4 to get c=-21/4

2. first subtract 7/8 from both sides to get 37/24-21/24=-5x/6
which equals 16/24=-5x/6
multiply both sides by 6: 16/4=-5x
now divide both sides by -5 to get: -16/20=x

1. Assuming there are no parentheses as written, then, first, subtract 5 from both sides, leaving: -4c/7=3. Next multiply both sides by 7, leaving -4c=21. Finally, divide both sides by -4, and you get c=-21/4

2. Again, assuming there are no parentheses, subtract 7/8 from both sides, leaving 37/24-7/8=-5x/6. Now, the left term becomes (37-21)/24 or 16/24 or 2/3. So, you get 2/3=-5x/6. Multiply both sides by 6, and you get 12/3=-5x or 4=-5x Divide both sides by -5, and you get x=-4/5

1)5-4c/7=8
5-4c=7x8
5-4c=56
-4c=56+5
-4c=61
c=61/-4
c=-15.25
