If you just want the three major items
1. IP address
2. Subnet Mask
3. Gateway address
Those three items will connect the computer to the local network. Everything else needed will be in addition to those three. You dont need a DNS unless you connect to internet, you dont need shared folders or usernames unless the network system requires logon and you certainly dont need any proxy server! So these three items are the base.

Network settings required to access a network
1. A valid IP address and network mask
2. A DNS server address (so you can get the names of other computers)
3. A gateway address (so you can access outside the network like the internet)
4. A username and password (probably needed or not, depending on the network)
5. A proxy address (probably needed if you need access to the internet)

Every computer must have an ip address, a subnet mask, a default gateway, and a DNS ip address. Without those items, a computer will not access the internet.
