for school we have to have the strangest, oddest, unique tradition we can find. this is due this tuesday and any suggestions would be nice . please say the tradition and what country it is from.

This is a Japanese tradition from the World War Two era. When a person was leaving to join the armed forces their would be a silk scarf, a needle and thread taken from person to person in order to get one hundred knotted stitches in the scarf, the scarf would be worn for good luck.

for me it is pancake day. I am from Wales in the UK, but grew up in canada. i recently moved back there and one day a year they have pancake day where all the bakeries sell pancakes and people can't wait to eat them by the dozens. I don't quite know why they do this, but they do :)
