A gathering to engender and promote love, as for the satisfaction of the participants or as a form of social activism."
It was a party of peace love, including sexual, and under standing. LSD and marijuana were used widely. This even (s) took place mainly in the 60's as recorded in the Musical Hair. Unfortunately all records of this album seem to have been destroyed.

A "love-in" is a 1960's term for what would otherwise have been called an orgy. Its where it was permissible to have sex with whomever was there and took your fancy. Generally drugs were involved, usually marijuana.
