My mother is overtly christian and anything that opposes this, she rejects and makes it that thing or person's fault.

How can I break it to her that, after two years thinking it over, that I'm an atheist, and I'm manically depressed (according to this guy doing depression in college, but looking at the symptons of Bipolar disorder, I wouldn't let it passed him...)

Oh and that I'm on the verge of suicide.

Well, coming from a person who was manically depressed, I would say just tell her. Be informative with her and try not to get very emotional. I told me mother that I didn't believe in God and she called me out on it. She told me that just because things in life get shitty is no reason to abandon what my heart believes. I started not to believe in God because I figured if God would let me feel this crappy then he really isn't God.

I would tell your mom "Hey, look, this is who I am, this is where I am right now. I don't need any kind of preaching. I just need my mom right now. I need lots of hugs and I need to be able to talk to you."

I also suggest using lots of feeling words.

That does not sound christian of your mother to place blame on you. I'm sure you have your reasons for not believing in G-d right now. I would not be so quick to think you are manically depressed, however... at least don't say that's what you are... I think that shermynew's answer above me is just right. I pray you will find peace.

It's a tough one. First of all, killing yourself is not the answer. Seek some help for that. In fact, see if there are any atheist groups in your area. I recently discovered that 2 of my friends are atheists. (I'm agnostic) We all grew up in a church. Bipolar is another, totally different problem. And please don't say that you are bipolar. You may have bipolar disorder. People with cancer don't say "I am cancer." They say "I have cancer." Take your time & think it over. There's help out there.

Why tell her about being an atheist? It seems like a pointless confrontation. Just smile and nod.

Don't let the depression lead you to rash decisions.

Sorry you feel this way. Seek help if you really wish to kill yourself. I think you are here for a reason and that has nothing to do with "religion". I think you might be here to open your Mother's eyes to other posibilities.
Just my thoughts...

I feel sorry for you and people in your situation. Just tell her you dont believe in that stuff. If she loves you she'll respect that...if not then it's her problem. This is just one of many reason why I detest religion : it destroys families
