particularly in this category, that people will ask questions just to get a reaction from others? I see it all the time and wonder why people answer them.

Many people are just interested in getting the most points, as if there is a new Lexus waiting for them on Yahoo Answers if they do. It is a compulsion. I made a joke about it in an answer I gave and got slapped by Yahoo morals board.

Probably for the points. But if I see that someone is baiting for an argument I will totally ignore them.
