Can you tell me what the word is that means to ruin someone character and how that is done?

this would not let me put the word in and I know that there is one for it and I also know what it is, would you try to answer this and tell me what that word is and what it means and how that would be done?

It's character assassination, it is ruining someones charachter just to hurt them in doing so. I had to ask this in several different ways because my computer or yahoo kept giving me a error code 1 I wasted points and space on this one, LOL

Libel, slander, or impugn. Basically the act of knowingly making false statements about a person, for malicious reasons.
