I havee a 2001 Honda Passport, automatic transmission. Lately when I go from a stop sign or where ever, when going into first gear it sort of jumps- kinda like a manual transmission popping the clutch. Does this sound expensive?

You may just simply need to add some transmission fluid to resolve this issue. Have the fluid level checked and while they are checking it ask them how the color looks on it. If it is discolored or smells burnt you will want to have the transmission flushed and the fluid changed (this should be done every 60,000 miles on Honda's if I remember correctly) if this still does not resolve your issue then yes, you need to have the transmission rebuilt. this can be quite costly.

sounds like it could be your front wheel drive slipping or a busted motor mount causing your motor to jump a little on takeoff that car has like 4 motor mounts on it
