I'm a Sabres fan so it would be easy for me to suggest you cheer for Buffalo... but I'm not going to do that.
Instead, I'd suggest you sit down and watch the series and see which team captures your imagination. You're bound to gravitate toward one team or the other, depending on what style of hockey you most appreciate and which players you identify with most. It's really up to you as a fan to cheer for the team that plays the game the way you like to see it played.
Cheers for the compliment about Buffalo practically being an honorary Canadian city. I grew up there and spent many happy times with friends just over the border in Southern Ontario. I always enjoyed the friendly rivalry with Leafs fans and envision the same sort of intensification of our relations with Sens fans, as well.
Okay, boys, let's play tough but keep it clean. And may the best team win!

Buffalo has never won the Cup, and heavan knows that they deserve it. We beat them last year by the skin of our teeth, and I respect them. If they had won game seven, they would have won The Cup. They are good and The town of Buffalo has all their hopes riding on that team. They are a very classy organization, playing the Canadian national anthem before every game even if it's two US teams is very classy. They have been in the league since 1970, and have never had a cup in the town that they won. Ottawa has had that, admittedly not the present team, but you will find Ottawa on the cup. Ottawa also has choked in the past. Buffalo will go on to win it if they have half a chance. As a Carolina Fan, There is no other team I would rather share a Stanley Cup ring with then Buffalo. Carolina is the only team on that band right now (Note team, I know about the stupid lockout engraving) And I think that Buffalo, another first time cup winer, should be right next to us. The EC finals last year were amazing, and that team is truly magnificent. Sabres all the way!

Buffalo!
Ottawa is known for cheap and dirty play, and Buffalo has never won a cup.
Just look at the Chris Neil hit on On February 22, 2007.

I would vote for Buffalo, they've been in the league longer than the Senators and they deserve to win their first Cup. Besides, the city of Ottawa already won all those Cups back in the early 1900s.

Buffalo. They earned it. Nothing to take away from the Sens (they are a good team too even though I'm po'ed they beat my Devils last nite) but I think the Sabres have what it takes. However this is going to be a long series.

Thanks for considering Buffalo as Cananda-south; We tend to take that as a compliment in WNY! I was born about 70 miles from Buffalo and was brought up on Sabres hockey, so you know who I'm rooting for! My advice to you is just sit back and enjoy what promises to be an amazing Eastern Conference Final!

If you are asking who to cheer for then you must not be a fan of either team (trust me if you were then you would have no question which you would cheer for). Therefore I suggest my rule of thumb: If you don't care about 2 teams at all, then go for the underdog, much more fun that way I think.

Go for the Sens.
It's your country, man.
'sides, just because the Sens play in Ottawa doesn't make them an extension of the Harper goverment. Hate the politicians themselves, not the hapless folk who happen to occupy the same city. ;)

The Ottawa Senators have nothing to do with politicians... hell, they'll show a politician on the jumbotron (if he/she is at the game) and you'll hear a lot of boos.
Ottawa.
